❤️AN ODE BEYOND EXPRESSION❤️

This poem is very different from what I have written on this blog earlier. Few days back, I celebrated my birthday and as I was wandering in my thoughts, it struck me why this day has been so close to my heart. This was the day I saw the person most dear to me for the very first time, my mum. I tried to pen down few heartfelt words. If I need to describe how I feel, surely even a billion pages won’t suffice. So, I won’t even try to do so. However, I hope a pinch of it may succeed in putting across a bare glimpse. Let’s take a look at the song my mom is too humble to sing…

This isn’t a reveal, definitely not an epiphany either;
It’s a reality I live with, a venture I have always been in,
Here goes a tale of an unsung hero, a song she never sings.

My shield from the cacophony of all-pervading jeers, the owner of burning drenched eyes;
A visionary with broken smile, a visage with expertise in concealing her scars;
Here goes a tale of an unsung hero, a song she never sings.

The sacrifices she calls love, the limits she put on herself to obliviate mine;
The stabs she took to lift me, yes, I am the witness of her evanescent zeal;
Here goes a tale of an unsung hero, a song she never sings.

Nine or nineteen, it didn’t matter to her, she’s always been all ears to my thoughts;
A friend, a guide, a teacher, a student, she has been all to me;
Here goes a tale of an unsung hero, a song she never sings.

She’s my harbinger of an existence beyond transience, her smiles my tangerine;
She’s not just my mother, she’s what’s in me I cherish;
Here I end just a trace of that tale, a song she never sings.

    Your shield, your ears, the friend who was your guide and teacher… what beautiful tribute to the hero who helped you become all that you are. I would be so touched by such a poem from my son.

      The way of expression might vary but I am sure your son feels the same way. My mom is ok and yes, she is really touched by this. 😊 She won’t sing the song because she is too humble. 🤗
